Take Charge of Your Health and Well-Being

Being active is about more than how your body feels… your mental health and overall well-being also get better with activity. You don't have to go to a gym or buy expensive equipment to be active. Find something you enjoy like hiking, playing a sport, stretching at home, or gardening.

Here are a few ways that you can improve your well-being:

Lift Your Mood

Activity can ease stress, anxiety, anger and feelings of depression. It can also improve learning and memory! When you are active, your body releases hormones called endorphins that help you feel good.

Better Sleep

Not getting good sleep? Regular activity can help you fall asleep faster and help you stay asleep. For some people, activity too close to bedtime can make it harder to fall asleep. Do what works for you!

Lower Your Risk of Chronic Disease

No matter the state of your current health, being active boosts good cholesterol and prevents high blood pressure. Being active can also lower your risk of some chronic diseases:

  • Stroke

  • Some types of cancer

  • Arthritis

  • Type 2 diabetes
