AZ Health Zone
Arizona’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education (SNAP-Ed)
Our Goal:
Help families in low resourced communities in Arizona to be healthy and active.
Who we are:
The AZ Health Zone is a network of partners, like county Cooperative Extension offices or local health departments, who support a community's efforts to improve access to food and safe places to be physically active.
What we do:
The AZ Health Zone approach is comprehensive. It addresses multiple levels of the social-ecological model in ways that are relevant and motivational to the individuals reached, while addressing constraining environmental and/or social factors. Working with local implementing agencies throughout the state, the program encourages those eligible for SNAP-Ed to improve nutrition, feeding practices, and decrease hunger, as well as increase physical activity and decrease sedentary behaviors.
How we do it:
The AZ Health Zone comprehensive approach includes a combination of policy, systems, and environmental change (PSE) strategies, direct education, and social marketing efforts.
